Breach came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Omni Interactive. It was a time when strategy games were really starting to dig into tactical depth, and this one fit right in with that trend. You didn't get flashy cutscenes or voice acting; it was all about the mechanics and the thinking.
You control a small squad of futuristic soldiers, moving them turn by turn across grid-based maps shrouded in fog of war. Your main goal is to complete missions, which usually involve eliminating all enemies or reaching an extraction point. Key mechanics include careful positioning to maximize line of sight, managing action points for movement and attacks, and using cover to avoid return fire. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense; you really have to plan each move because mistakes are costly and the enemy AI doesn't pull punches. It feels like a tight, demanding puzzle where every decision matters right up to the last turn.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
