Play Brix (1991) Online
Bounce a ball off a paddle to break bricks in this classic arcade-style game, dodging tricky angles and speeding up as you clear each screen.
Brix came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a simple but clever brick breaker from a time when shareware disks were full of surprises. It was developed by David Lemke and published as part of that bundle, a straightforward arcade-style game that didn't try to be more than it was, just a solid way to kill some time after school.
You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, bouncing a single ball to break all the bricks above. Some bricks shatter in one hit, others require two or three, and a few will explode, clearing adjacent blocks in a small chain reaction. The ball speeds up as you play, and its angles can get unpredictable, forcing quick adjustments. The goal is just to survive, screen after screen, as the layouts get more complex and the margin for error shrinks. It feels like a race against your own reflexes, a tense back and forth between control and chaos.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
