Game Overview

Bug! is one of those weirdly charming early 3D platformers where you play as a cartoon bug trying to save his insect pals from a giant spider queen. The controls take a minute to get used to—your main move is this weird bouncing attack where you flip onto enemies—but once it clicks, hopping around the chunky polygonal worlds feels oddly satisfying.

Each of the six worlds has three levels packed with those classic mid-90s platforming tropes: floating platforms, keys to collect, and the occasional "wait, how do I get up there?" moment. Some levels throw in light puzzles, like figuring out which switches open which doors. And yeah, you can eventually unlock spit attacks and electric zaps, which helps when the spider minions start ganging up on you.

It’s janky in that nostalgic Sega Saturn way, but there’s something endearing about bouncing around as a wisecracking bug in a world that looks like a toy store exploded. Just watch out for the camera—it’s got a mind of its own sometimes.
