I first played Bust-A-Move on the Neo Geo in 1995, a time when arcade-style puzzle games were finding a solid home on home consoles. Taito Corporation released it, and it stood out for its bright, simple visuals and its focus on pure, uncluttered puzzle action. It felt right at home alongside other thoughtful, skill-based games of that era.

You control a small cannon at the bottom of the screen, aiming and firing colored bubbles upward to match groups of three or more of the same color. The main goal is to clear the entire screen of bubbles before they descend and reach a bottom line. Key mechanics include banking shots off the side walls to reach tricky angles and creating chain reactions by popping supporting bubbles to drop large sections at once. The pacing starts deceptively relaxed but quickly demands faster decisions and precise aiming as the ceiling gets lower. It feels satisfying to watch a well-planned shot erase a huge chunk of the puzzle in one go.
