Call of Duty 4 on the DS? Yeah, it’s actually a thing—and somehow, it works. You’re not getting the full console experience, obviously, but the controls are surprisingly decent for a handheld FPS. The missions are bite-sized, so it’s great for quick sessions, though some of the firefights still get pretty intense. The graphics are about what you’d expect from the DS, but the sound design does a solid job of making gunfire and explosions feel punchy.

It’s not perfect—sometimes the AI acts a little wonky, and aiming takes some getting used to—but if you’ve ever wanted to sneak in a round of Modern Warfare between bus stops, this’ll do the trick. Just don’t expect it to replace the real thing.
