Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Defiance came out for the Nintendo DS in 2011, developed by n-Space. It was one of the later first-person shooters on the handheld, trying to pack a console-style military campaign into the dual screens. You don't get the big cinematic set pieces, but it's a solid effort for what the hardware could do.
You control a soldier moving through linear missions, clearing areas of hostiles and completing objectives like defending positions or planting explosives. The touch screen handles aiming and grenade throws, while the face buttons manage movement and firing. Enemy encounters are frequent and close-range, demanding quick use of cover. The pacing is aggressive, and the difficulty can spike during sections with limited ammo or overwhelming numbers. It feels surprisingly responsive for a DS title, making the firefights tense and immediate.
