Play Captain America and the Avengers Online

Captain America and the Avengers came out on Game Boy in 1991, developed by Data East. It was one of those early handheld comic book games, a side-scrolling beat 'em up that tried to pack a console-style experience into a tiny screen. You could pick from four heroes: Captain America, Iron Man, Vision, or Hawkeye, each with their own basic attacks and a screen-clearing special move that cost health.

You move from left to right, punching and kicking through waves of henchmen, occasionally switching to an overhead shooting stage where you blast enemy ships. The main goal is to fight through levels, defeat bosses like the Juggernaut or the Living Laser, and eventually take down Red Skull. The game is pretty tough; enemies swarm you, and your character moves a bit stiffly. It feels like a condensed, sometimes frustrating arcade experience, but there's a simple satisfaction in landing a hit and seeing a health bar drop.
