Casper on Game Boy Color came out in 1996, developed by Avalanche Software and published by Natsume. It was one of those licensed games that showed up a lot on the platform, based on the friendly ghost movie from the year before. You control Casper as he floats through the haunted halls of Whipstaff Manor. The main goal is to help the living residents by finding hidden objects and solving environmental puzzles, all while avoiding your troublesome uncles. You switch between different ghost forms, like turning invisible or becoming solid to push objects, to interact with the world. The game progresses screen by screen, with some light platforming and a fair number of obstacles to work around. It moves at a steady pace, not too hard but not without its tricky moments. Playing it feels like quietly exploring a big, creaky house where every room has some small secret to uncover.
