Play Code Name - Viper Online
80s-style NES action where you play a rogue agent dismantling a drug cartel—starts slow but gets wild with grenades, hostages, and a mystery kingpin.

Code Name: Viper came out on the NES in 1990, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that wave of late 80s, early 90s action games that tried to blend run and gun shooting with a bit of tactical espionage, fitting right in with the console's library of straightforward, challenging titles.
You control a lone special forces operative sent into the jungle to destroy a massive drug operation. Your main goal is to fight through each stage, find the exit, and eventually take down the cartel's leader. The gameplay involves moving screen by screen, clearing enemies with your machine gun and a limited supply of grenades. You also need to rescue hostages who provide items or extra lives, and you can find keycards to unlock certain doors. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, because enemies respawn if you leave a screen, forcing you to be thorough. It feels tense and calculated, like a slow burn where every bullet and every step matters.
