You control Sonic, but his movement feels off; momentum is unpredictable, and jumps often fall short or overshoot. The main objective remains the same, reach the end of each act and defeat Robotnik, but the path is fraught with new hazards. Signature mechanics include navigating through heavily distorted level geometry and dealing with collision detection that frequently fails. The pacing is deliberately jarring, and the difficulty spikes sharply due to these intentional flaws. Playing it feels like trying to run through a world that is actively falling apart.
