Codename: ICEMAN came out in 1989 as part of Sierra On-Line's MS-DOS Classic Games series. It was a time when adventure games relied heavily on text parsers and static graphics, and this one fit right into that mold, offering a mix of naval strategy and tense decision making without the hand holding of later titles.

You control Johnny Westland, a submarine commander tasked with preventing a global crisis. The gameplay involves navigating your sub through hostile waters, managing limited resources, and solving environmental puzzles, like repairing damaged systems under pressure. Interaction is mostly through typed commands, and the pacing is deliberate, sometimes unforgiving; a single misstep in dialogue or action can lead to an abrupt ending. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
