Comix Zone (EU) is one of those weirdly creative beat 'em ups where you play as a comic artist trapped in his own work. The first thing that hits you is the art style - everything looks hand-drawn, with panel borders and speech bubbles making it feel like you're literally fighting through pages.
Early on, you realize how fragile Sketch is. A few wrong moves and enemies can chunk your health fast. The rat companion Roadkill helps scout ahead, but I kept forgetting to use him until after taking unnecessary damage. The paper-tearing super moves look cool but take some practice to pull off mid-fight.
What sticks with me is how the comic book framing affects gameplay. You can punch enemies into panel gutters or break through borders to find hidden items. It's clever, though sometimes the alternate paths aren't worth the risk when health is so limited. Comix Zone (EU) doesn't hold your hand, but that rough edge gives it character.
