Ever played one of those old-school arcade shooters where the only rule is "cause as much mayhem as possible"? Crime Wave is basically that, but cranked up to eleven. You start off with just a pistol and a bad attitude, blasting cops through pixelated streets that look like someone took a neon marker to graph paper.
What I love is how uncomplicated it is—no moral dilemmas, just pure chaos. SWAT vans roll in, you dodge behind wrecked cars (which explode, obviously), and suddenly you're spraying bullets like some kind of deranged action figure. The controls take a minute to get used to—this is MS-DOS, after all—but once it clicks, you'll be laughing at how absurdly fun it is to outrun a hail of bullets while your wanted level maxes out.
It's got that janky, early-'90s charm where everything feels slightly too fast and the sound effects could double as a dentist's drill. If you've ever wondered what Grand Theft Auto would've looked like as a fever dream on floppy disks, here's your answer.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
