Crime Wave came out in 1990 from Access Software, one of those early MS-DOS titles that felt like a raw, unpolished take on the top-down action genre. It didn't try to be epic or cinematic; it was just a straightforward arcade-style game that fit right in with the era's appetite for simple, fast-paced challenges.
You control a criminal on a city-wide spree, moving screen by screen through streets and buildings. Your main goal is to cause as much mayhem as possible, shooting police officers, stealing cars, and blowing up anything that gets in your way. The game throws increasingly aggressive law enforcement at you, from regular cops to SWAT teams, forcing you to keep moving or be overwhelmed. It's frantic, difficult, and a little ridiculous, but there's a strange satisfaction in watching the city descend into pixelated anarchy under your control.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
