Haul maple syrup across Canada in a rusty truck, white-knuckling through blizzards and praying your fuel lasts till the next gas station. That wrong turn outside Winnipeg? Yeah, you're spending the night lost in the prairies.

Crosscountry Canada came out in 1986 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Didatech Software Ltd. It was one of those educational titles from the era that tried to teach geography and logistics through a simple, text-driven interface, a common approach before graphics became the main focus.
You control a truck driver hauling cargo across the country, managing fuel, food, and sleep while navigating a map of Canada. The main objective is to successfully deliver your load to a designated city, which requires careful planning of your route and resources. Signature mechanics include choosing your path screen by screen from a list of connected towns, buying supplies at stops to avoid running out, and dealing with random events like bad weather or breakdowns that drain your money and time. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with a difficulty that comes from the constant risk of getting stranded if you miscalculate your needs. It feels like a quiet, persistent battle against the map and your own dwindling wallet.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
