Daxter finally gets his own spotlight in this PSP spinoff, and honestly? It’s way more fun than I expected. You play as the wisecracking ottsel (half otter, half weasel—don’t ask) working as a pest exterminator in Haven City, smacking bugs with a fly swatter before upgrading to a legit bug-zapping spray gun. The combat’s simple but satisfying, especially when you unlock the flamethrower later and just roast everything.
The levels are surprisingly varied—one minute you’re platforming across speeding trains, the next you’re sneaking through a fish factory (weirdly atmospheric) or dodging guards in a fortress. And those dream sequences? Pure fan service. Daxter imagines himself as Neo from The Matrix or swinging like Indiana Jones, complete with over-the-top action spoofs.
There’s even a goofy multiplayer mode where you pit your collected bugs against friends. It’s not deep, but it’s a fun distraction. Mostly, it’s just cool seeing how Daxter’s antics set up the events of Jak II. If you liked the series, this one’s a solid side adventure.
