Game Overview
So, The Death and Return of Superman on SNES—yeah, it’s based on that massive comic arc, but don’t expect a perfect retelling. You start off punching through waves of generic thugs as Supes, which feels decent until you realize half the moves are just "punch harder." Then Doomsday shows up, and suddenly it’s a totally different game—side-scrolling beat ‘em up meets awkward platforming. The weirdest part? After the big death scene, you play as four knockoff heroes trying (and mostly failing) to fill Superman’s boots. Cyborg Superman’s stage is just… robots. So many robots.
It’s got that ‘90s comic vibe, at least—bright colors, cheesy voice clips, and a soundtrack that’s either nostalgic or grating, depending on your tolerance for SNES synth. Not the worst way to kill an afternoon if you’re into clunky superhero games. Just don’t go in expecting Arkham Asylum.
