Game Overview

Defender-mame is that old-school arcade shooter where you're basically a tiny spaceship trying not to get obliterated by swarms of aliens. The controls feel a little janky at first—you've got this reverse thrust button that takes some getting used to—but once it clicks, weaving through enemy fire while rescuing stranded humans becomes weirdly satisfying.

What makes it tough is how everything escalates. One minute you're picking off lone aliens, the next you're getting swarmed from all sides while the radar screen flashes like a panic button. The sound design nails that classic arcade chaos too—those harsh beeps and explosions somehow never get old.

It's one of those games where your first few runs last about 30 seconds, but you keep hitting 'insert coin' because you swear you'll do better next time. The MAME version runs smooth, though I still miss the feel of the original cabinet's joystick.
