Game Overview

Defenders of Dynatron City came out on the NES in 1992, developed by Lucasfilm Games. It was part of that era when licensed properties and oddball concepts were common, and this one was based on a short-lived cartoon no one really remembers. You play as one of several mechanics who get superpowers after an accident involving a soda company's mutagen.

You choose a hero like Missile Man or Jet Headstrong, then move through levels screen by screen, punching and using a special weapon to defeat an army of robotic enemies and mutants. The main goal is to fight your way to the boss of each stage. You collect power-ups to restore health and increase your attack strength, and the levels are fairly linear but packed with enemies. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with cheap hits from off-screen. It feels clunky and strange, but there's a charm to its bizarre setting and straightforward action.
