Donkey Kong Jr. came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1982, developed and published by Nintendo. You control Donkey Kong Jr., climbing chains and vines across single-screen stages to reach the cage where Mario has imprisoned your father. The main objective is to reach a key at the top of each level, then carry it to the lock on Donkey Kong's cage. Signature mechanics include grabbing and shaking vines to knock off enemies like Snapjaws, and timing your movements to avoid bouncing Nitpickers and electric sparks. The pacing is tense, and the difficulty ramps up quickly with precise jumps and enemy patterns. It feels urgent and slightly frantic, especially when you're just one mistake away from losing a life.
