Donkey Kong Jungle Climber came out for the Nintendo DS in 2007, developed by Paon and published by Nintendo. It was part of that era where the DS library was full of inventive, stylus driven games, but this one stuck to traditional controls and brought back the climbing action from the Game Boy Advance title, Donkey Kong King of Swing.

You control Donkey Kong, climbing screen by screen by latching onto pegs with your hands, swinging to build momentum, and launching yourself upward or across gaps. Your main goal is to collect bananas and KONG letters while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards like spikes or falling rocks. The game introduces mechanics like gravity flipping sections and minecart stages that break up the climbing rhythm. It starts simple but demands precision in later levels, where timing your swings becomes crucial. Playing it feels energetic and slightly frantic, especially when you’re scrambling to avoid obstacles while keeping your grip.
