Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007, developed by Paon and published by Nintendo. You control Donkey Kong, climbing screen by screen by using the stylus to grab and swing from pegs, chaining together momentum to ascend. Your main goal is to collect the mysterious crystals known as Banana Jewels while fending off classic enemies like the Kremlings. Key mechanics include coordinating with Diddy Kong, who you can call to stun enemies or retrieve distant items, and managing your grip stamina to avoid falling. The pacing is deliberate, demanding careful timing over speed, and the difficulty can spike sharply in later stages. It feels surprisingly physical and satisfying when you hit a smooth climbing rhythm and everything just flows.
