Play Donkey Kong Land III (prototype) Online
Dixie and Kiddy chuck each other through janky prototype levels—barrels might launch you to secrets or just blow up in your face. Unfinished animations and weird physics give it that rough Game Boy charm.

Donkey Kong Land III was a prototype for the Game Boy, developed by Rare and published by Nintendo. It arrived late in the system's life, a time when developers were still finding clever ways to push the hardware. This version feels like a work in progress, with some levels and mechanics not fully polished.
You control Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong, switching between them to use their unique abilities. Dixie can spin her ponytail to hover for a short time, while Kiddy is stronger and can throw Dixie across gaps. The goal is to navigate side scrolling levels, collecting bananas and K O N G letters while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards. The prototype has a noticeable roughness; barrels might behave unpredictably, sometimes launching you to hidden areas, other times exploding unexpectedly. The pacing is deliberate, requiring careful jumps and some trial and error due to the unrefined physics. Playing it feels like exploring a blueprint, where every success is earned through adaptation.
