Donkey Kong Land III came out on the Game Boy in 1997, developed by Rare. You control either Dixie Kong or her cousin Kiddy, switching between them to use their unique abilities. Dixie can glide using her ponytail, while Kiddy can perform a clumsy but effective roll attack and carry her on his back. Your goal is to explore levels screen by screen, collecting the mysterious banana coins and K-O-N-G letters while riding animal buddies like Squitter the spider, who shoots webs to create temporary platforms. The pacing is brisk, and some later stages get genuinely tricky with their enemy placement and jumps. It feels satisfying to slowly master each stage's layout and hunt down every last secret.
