Double Agent came out in 1996 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Flair Software Ltd. It was a time when local multiplayer games were often simple in presentation but sharp in design, built for quick sessions and shared screens rather than sprawling single player campaigns.
You control a spy navigating a top-down maze, avoiding guards while trying to snatch briefcases. The main goal is to grab all the briefcases in a level and reach the exit before your opponent does the same. Key mechanics include setting traps like bombs or fake walls to slow down the other player, and using gadgets such as cloaking devices or teleporters to gain an edge. The pace is frantic; you are always watching both your own progress and your rival's movements, making split second decisions under pressure. It feels like a tense, mischievous race where every move can be countered or exploited.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
