You’re blasting through the sky, trading punches mid-air before slamming someone into the ground—feels just like the anime. The what-if story twists are a nice surprise, too.

Game Overview

Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Cavia and published by Atari. It was part of that wave of portable fighters that tried to capture big console energy on a small screen, and it stood out for its focus on aerial combat. The game arrived when the GBA library was full of RPGs and platformers, so a solid versus fighter was always a welcome change of pace.

You control a roster of DBZ characters, flying freely around the arena to punch, kick, and fire energy beams at your opponent. The main goal is to deplete the other fighter's health bar, often through dramatic, screen-filling super attacks. Signature mechanics include team battles where you tag in partners for assists, and a story mode that branches into fun "what-if" scenarios unseen in the show. Matches are fast and can feel chaotic, but landing a fully charged Kamehameha after a successful combo never gets old. It feels like directing your own little episode of the cartoon.
