Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, published by Atari. It was one of the better licensed games on the system, arriving when handhelds were really hitting their stride with deeper action RPGs. This one covers the Android and Cell Sagas, picking up right after the first game left off.
You control Goku and most of the Z Fighters, switching between them as the story demands. The main goal is to follow the plot, fighting through screen by screen areas, beating up enemies with melee combos and ki blasts, and gaining enough experience to level up. You explore large overworld maps, enter dungeons, and even hunt for the seven Dragon Balls as a side activity. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty is fair, though some boss fights demand quick reflexes. It feels satisfying to build up each character and unleash their signature moves against familiar villains.
