Game Overview

If you grew up mashing buttons to Dragon Ball Z fighters on the SNES, Ultime Menace (aka Super Butouden 3) feels like stumbling onto a hidden level. France got this one all to themselves back in the day, and now with Aeon Genesis’s translation patch, the rest of us can finally experience its gloriously unbalanced chaos.

You’ve got Broly wrecking shop before he was cool, Vegeta’s Galick Gun looking pixel-perfect, and Goku pulling off Kamehamehas that take up half the screen. The fights are faster and messier than Hyper Dimension—less about precision, more about who can spam their ultimate move first. Some moves straight-up don’t work right, and the AI cheats like crazy, but that’s part of the charm. It’s like playing with action figures: you’re here to make explosions happen, not win EVO.

Honestly? The unfinished translation just adds to the vibe. Menus might glitch, and some text looks like it was typed by a Saiyan toddler, but who cares when you’re charging up to vaporize Frieza for the hundredth time. This is pure, uncut 90s DBZ nostalgia.
