Game Overview
Eye of Horus is one of those weird, charming MS-DOS platformers where you play as the Egyptian god Horus trying to reassemble your murdered dad (Osiris, because mythology is brutal). The whole thing takes place in this maze-like temple where hieroglyphs literally peel off the walls to attack you—which sounds cool until you’re getting mobbed by angry bird symbols.
You start with basic papyrus darts (yes, paper weapons), but there’s something oddly satisfying about blinking enemies out of existence with them. The hawk transformation is the real highlight though—suddenly you’re just flapping over entire sections, dodging traps, and feeling smug until you realize you’ve flown straight into a wall of spikes. Classic.
Amulets are scattered everywhere, and half the fun is figuring out which ones actually help (some just make your darts sparkle uselessly). It’s janky in that late-’90s way, but the atmosphere is weirdly immersive once you get past the pixelated chaos. Just watch out for Set—guy’s got serious boss fight energy.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
