Play F-18 Thunder Strike Online
Dodging SAMs over chunky pixel mountains while flipping your F-18 sideways to line up missile shots—manual’s full of urgent ALL CAPS warnings, and you’ll need every page. Carrier landings still feel impossible after 20 tries.

F-18 Thunder Strike came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Crawfish Interactive and published by Majesco. It was part of that wave of handheld games trying to squeeze serious flight action into a pocket-sized screen, back when portable gaming was still mostly black and green or chunky color pixels. The manual had this no-nonsense tone, full of urgent warnings in all caps, which set the mood right from the start.
You pilot an F-18 Hornet, completing missions that involve air-to-air and air-to-ground combat across varied terrain. The main objective is to destroy enemy targets while avoiding surface-to-air missiles and anti-aircraft fire. Signature mechanics include manual control over weapons selection, evasive maneuvers like barrel rolls, and the notoriously difficult carrier landings that require precise speed and alignment. The pacing is tense, with sudden threats emerging from all directions, and the difficulty stays high throughout. It feels like a constant test of focus and quick decision-making under pressure.
