Game Overview

Fatal Fury came to the Super Nintendo in 1992, a time when fighting games were really starting to find their footing on home consoles. SNK brought their arcade brawler over, and while it wasn't as flashy as some later releases, it had a certain gritty charm that set it apart. It felt like a direct, slightly rough translation from the arcade, which was pretty common for the era.

You pick one of three fighters—Terry, Andy, or Joe—and battle through a series of opponents on your way to face Geese Howard. The fighting happens on two planes, foreground and background, and you can jump between them to dodge attacks or set up your own. Special moves require precise joystick motions and button presses, which can be tough to pull off consistently on a SNES pad. Matches are fast and the AI doesn't hold back, so you'll need to learn those moves to stand a chance. It feels like a genuine challenge, a test of patience and timing that rewards practice.
