FIFA Street 2 on the Nintendo DS came out in 2006, developed by EA Canada. It was part of that wave of sports spin-offs that tried to capture a more casual, arcade feel, fitting right in with the handheld's pick-up-and-play library. You weren't getting a full console experience, but it had its own style.
You control a team of street footballers in small-sided matches, and the main goal is to outscore your opponent with style. The signature mechanics are all about flair: using the touch screen to perform trick moves, chaining skill combos together to build a GameBreaker meter, and then unleashing a super move that almost guarantees a goal. The pacing is fast, the difficulty comes from timing your tricks under pressure, and it feels surprisingly fluid once you get the hang of sliding the stylus. Pulling off a long combo and watching the ball ricochet off a wall into the net is just pure, silly fun.
