Game Overview

Fighters Destiny on the N64 is one of those fighting games that actually makes you think instead of just hammering buttons. Instead of draining an opponent’s health bar, you win by scoring points—knock them down, ring them out, or land a clean hit, and you rack up points like a martial arts tournament. At first, I kept trying to play it like Street Fighter, but the game straight-up punishes you for mindless aggression.

The roster’s got some weirdos—a sumo wrestler, a samurai, even a kangaroo—and they all feel totally different. The samurai’s quick slashes work way better for hit-and-run tactics, while the sumo’s all about timing those slow, brutal throws. It’s not the prettiest N64 fighter, but the strategy keeps it interesting long after other games get stale.

If you’re tired of the same old fighting game formula, this one’s worth a shot. Just don’t expect to button-mash your way to victory.
