Play Fighting Golf (Japan) Online
Swing wildly, watch your ball bounce off trees like a pinball, and try not to lose it laughing when physics just gives up mid-shot. Two-player mode turns "friendly" golf into pure chaos.
I picked up Fighting Golf for the NES back in 1988, a game developed by SNK. It was one of those early sports titles that tried to bring something a little different to the console, standing out among the platformers and action games of the era. The box art and name suggested competition, but it was really just golf with a twist, nothing too flashy, but it had its own charm.
You control a golfer from an overhead view, aiming to complete each hole in as few strokes as possible. The main objective is straightforward, but the mechanics add some personality; you adjust your power and angle carefully, then watch as the ball reacts with exaggerated bounces, sometimes veering wildly off course after hitting obstacles. The two-player mode introduces a competitive edge, where you and a friend take turns, each trying to outdo the other amid the unpredictable physics. It feels lighthearted and occasionally silly, especially when a shot goes completely wrong, making for a relaxed, amusing round of virtual golf.
