Ford Racing 3 on the GBA is one of those racers that surprised me with how much variety it crams into a tiny cartridge. You start off picking from a garage of Ford classics—everything from a clunky Model T to a slick 2005 Mustang GT—and then jump into quick races across three main modes. The Ford Challenge was my go-to, though half the cars and events are locked at first, so you’ve got to earn them.

What I didn’t expect was how many weird race types they threw in. Sure, there’s standard laps, but then you get eliminations where the slowest cars get booted each lap, or drafting challenges where you tailgate opponents to build up a boost meter. The relay mode—passing a baton while racing—is downright chaotic. And yeah, there’s a boost button, because of course there is. It’s not the prettiest racer on the GBA, but it’s got enough oddball ideas to keep you entertained between bus rides.
