Racing Hero came out in 1992 as an arcade game from Sega. It was part of that wave of racing cabinets that tried to pull you in with a big seat and handlebars, right when games were pushing for more physical immersion. You control a motorcycle racer, weaving through traffic on highways across different countries. The main goal is to reach each checkpoint before time runs out, navigating through increasingly dense and unpredictable traffic. Signature mechanics include choosing your route at forks in the road, which affects the scenery and difficulty, and a dramatic slow-motion crash sequence that plays out if you hit another vehicle. The pacing is relentless; cars and trucks swerve into your lane with little warning, demanding quick reflexes. It feels tense and unforgiving, like you're always one mistake away from watching your bike tumble end over end.
