Game Overview

Fullmetal Alchemist: Meisou no Rinbukyoku is one of those GBA games that slipped under the radar—probably because it never made it outside Japan—but it’s a surprisingly solid adaptation of the anime. You play as Ed and Al, swapping between them to solve puzzles and fight using alchemy, which feels way more involved than just mashing buttons. The pixel art nails the show’s style, and hearing those original voice clips in a GBA game still feels like a weird little miracle.

It’s not just mindless action, either. Some of the puzzles actually make you stop and think like an alchemist—figuring out how to manipulate objects or chain reactions is half the fun. That said, a few of them are brutal enough to make you sympathize with Ed’s constant frustration. The story’s condensed but hits the major beats, and the combat has this satisfying weight to it, especially when you pull off a big transmutation. If you’re into FMA or just miss that era of anime games, it’s worth tracking down—just brush up on your Japanese or find a guide.
