Play Future Wars Online

Future Wars is that kind of MS-DOS adventure where you'll spend half an hour pixel-hunting for a tiny screwdriver, only to realize it was meant for a hatch three chapters later—and the game won't even tell you what a box is unless you're standing right on top of it.

Game Overview

Future Wars is one of those old-school MS-DOS adventure games that looks simple at first—left-click to move, right-click for actions like "Examine" or "Use"—but quickly turns into a brutal test of patience. The puzzles are mean. You’ll pick up some random screwdriver in chapter two, only to realize five hours later that it was the only way to open a hatch in chapter six. And good luck spotting half the items—some are literally three pixels wide, so you end up dragging your cursor over every inch of the screen like a madman.

Even examining stuff is weirdly realistic—stand too far from a crate, and the game just says "it’s a box." Move closer, and suddenly it’s "a rusty metal container with strange scratches." There’s also a few timed sections and arcadey bits that feel like they were added just to punish people who thought this was a chill point-and-click. I swear, without a walkthrough, you’ll be reloading saves every 10 minutes. It’s frustrating, but weirdly satisfying when you finally brute-force your way through.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
