Game Overview

G.I. Joe: Cobra Strike is one of those weirdly intense Atari 2600 games where you’re basically playing defense against a giant pixelated snake. Cobra’s attacking your training camp, and you’ve got to shield your recruits from venom and lasers while they scramble to safety at the bottom of the screen. The snake moves in this jerky, unpredictable way—you’ll miss the shield timing at least twice before getting the hang of it.

When you’re not blocking, you can squeeze in shots at the snake, but aiming feels a little loose, like the gun’s drifting. Takes eight solid hits to take it down, and if you lose four recruits, game over. The two-player mode’s fun—either team up against the snake or let someone control Cobra to make things properly chaotic. Three players? Absolute madness, in the best way. It’s simple, but that snake gets faster every level.
