Play G1 King Online

Tapping A to push your pixel-horse faster feels silly at first, until you're white-knuckling the final stretch, praying your brown blob doesn’t gas out before the finish line.

Game Overview

G1 King on the Game Boy is one of those weird little sports games that somehow gets its hooks into you. At first glance, it's just pixelated horses going in circles, but after a couple races, you realize there's a surprising amount of strategy—do you push your horse early to take the lead and risk burning out, or hang back and make a last-second dash?

The controls are simple (mostly just tapping A at the right times), but the races get seriously tense, especially when you're neck-and-neck coming around the final turn. And yeah, the graphics are pure Game Boy chunky-pixel charm—your horse is basically a brown blob with legs, but you'll still cheer when it pulls ahead.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much from a horse racing sim on a handheld from 1989, but here I am, still trying to beat my best time on the third cup. It’s got that "one more race" energy.
