Gadget: Lost in Time came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Synergy and published by GameTek. It was a time when adventure games often relied on detailed pixel art and complex logic puzzles, and this one fit right into that niche without trying to reinvent the wheel.
You control a man named Dexter, who finds himself stranded across different time periods after a teleportation experiment goes wrong. Your main goal is to gather pieces of a device called the Gadget to return home. The gameplay involves screen by screen exploration, collecting and combining items in your inventory, and solving environmental puzzles that often require careful observation. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, and the difficulty can spike without much warning. It feels like untangling a knot where every loop leads to another era.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
