Game Overview

Ganbare Goemon - Neo Momoyama Bakufu No Odori is one of those N64 games that feels like it got lost in translation—but in the best way possible. You play as Goemon, this blue-haired ninja dude who runs around feudal Japan smacking enemies with a pipe, riding giant robot cats, and occasionally stopping to soak in hot springs. The whole thing has this weird, playful energy—like someone took Japanese folklore and ran it through a Saturday morning cartoon filter.

First ten minutes? You'll be jumping between rooftops, chucking coins at enemies, and probably laughing at how absurd some of the animations are. The levels are packed with little secrets and dumb jokes (yes, there's a level where you fight sumo wrestlers on a giant sushi platter). It's not the tightest platformer out there, but the sheer charm makes up for the occasional clunky moment.

If you're into games that don't take themselves too seriously, this one's a riot. Just don't question why the villain's castle has a disco floor.
