Play Gary Grigsbys Pacific War Online
Commanding fleets across the Pacific, sweating over supply routes, and watching your stranded troops surrender if you mess up—this is war at its most punishingly real. Nailing that perfect island invasion after weeks of planning? Pure relief.

Gary Grigsby's Pacific War came out in 1992 for MS-DOS, published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. It was one of those deep, complex war games that demanded a lot from players back when manuals were thick and tutorials were basically non-existent. You didn't just play it; you studied it, with charts and notepads often sitting right next to the keyboard.
You control the entire Allied or Japanese war effort across the Pacific, moving task forces, planning amphibious assaults, and managing air operations across a sprawling hex-based map. The main objective is to either push back or expand the empire by capturing key islands and destroying enemy fleets. Signature mechanics include detailed naval combat with individual ship damage modeling, intricate supply and logistics that dictate every move, and weather systems that can ruin the best laid plans. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty is steep, requiring patience and careful long-term strategy. It feels less like playing a game and more like conducting a fragile, exhausting military operation where every decision has weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
