Game Overview

Ghostbusters on the Genesis is this weird little platformer where you play as these chunky, exaggerated versions of the team—like if someone drew them from memory after one too many Ecto-Coolers. You’re running through haunted hotels and graveyards, zapping ghosts with the proton pack (which feels oddly satisfying, even if the controls are a bit stiff).

The first level throws you right into it—no tutorial, just a jumpscare from a floating specter and suddenly you’re dodging flying chairs. The sprites are big and goofy, and the ghosts have this rubbery look to them, like they’re made of neon taffy. It’s not the deepest game, but there’s something charming about how unapologetically ‘90s it all feels.

Also, the soundtrack slaps. That bassline in the first stage lives in my head rent-free.
