Ghouls is one of those Neo Geo games that throws you right into the chaos—you start in some creepy graveyard with zombies shambling toward you, and your only defense is this weird little ghost buddy that floats around shooting for you. At first, I thought it was just another run-and-gun, but the way you have to position your ghost to hit enemies from different angles actually makes it pretty tactical. The sprites are chunky in that classic Neo Geo way, and the graveyard backgrounds have this eerie glow that makes the whole thing feel like a B-movie come to life.
What surprised me was how fast Ghouls ramps up—one minute you're dealing with slow zombies, the next you're dodging flying skulls and giant spiders. The controls are simple, but timing your shots with the ghost’s movement takes some getting used to. If you dig arcade-style games with a horror twist, Ghouls is a solid pick.
