Oh man, Giana Sisters on MS-DOS is one of those games that feels like someone took Mario, dyed its hair neon pink, and cranked up the volume. You control these two sisters bouncing through candy-colored levels, except instead of mushrooms you get this weird punk power-up that lets you shoot fireballs—which, honestly, is way cooler than it has any right to be.
The first time I played, I got stuck on those bouncing diamonds for way too long before realizing you can actually use them as platforms. And the music? That chiptune soundtrack worms its way into your brain and never leaves. Yeah, Nintendo totally sued them over how much it looked like Mario at first, but that just makes beating the lava levels feel like sticking it to the man.
It’s janky in that perfect late-’80s way—sometimes you’ll swear you made that jump—but that’s part of the charm. If you’ve got a soft spot for retro platformers with attitude, this one’s a riot.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
