Play Global Effect Online
Blast through waves of enemies in bite-sized top-down chaos—spin, shoot, and try not to get swarmed in jungles or city streets while pixel debris flies everywhere. No frills, just that late-night "one more try" grip.

Global Effect came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, published by Genias. It was a straightforward action game from that era, fitting right in with the top-down shooters that were common on the platform at the time. You controlled a lone soldier dropped into hostile territory, and the goal was simple: survive.
You move your character through discrete, screen-by-screen areas, clearing out all the enemies to proceed. The core mechanics involve spinning to fire in all directions and managing a limited supply of grenades for tougher crowds. The pacing is relentless; enemies spawn quickly and can easily overwhelm you if you stop moving. It feels like a tense, chaotic scramble where every second counts.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
