Glory of Heracles 2 came out on the NES in 1989, developed by Data East. It was part of that wave of late 80s JRPGs that leaned into mythology and exploration, fitting right in with the console's growing library of fantasy adventures. You don't see many games tackle Greek myth with this much detail, at least not back then.
You control a group of immortal heroes, exploring the world screen by screen, fighting monsters in turn-based battles that require some strategy with magic and equipment. Your main goal is to recover your lost memories while navigating labyrinthine dungeons and dealing with the whims of the gods. The pacing is deliberate, and some dungeons can feel punishing if you're not prepared. It feels like piecing together a grand, ancient story with every new town and temple you discover.
