Game Overview

Gold and Glory came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Bit Managers and published by Ubisoft. It was part of that wave of late-era GBC titles that tried to squeeze a bit more adventure out of the hardware before the Advance arrived. You play as one of several treasure hunters racing through ancient, trap-filled ruins, all competing to grab the most valuable artifacts before the place collapses or your rivals do you in.

You control your chosen adventurer from an overhead perspective, navigating room by room. Your main goal is straightforward: collect more gold and treasure than anyone else before you escape. The signature mechanics involve careful timing to avoid environmental hazards like falling blocks and spike traps, while also using tools like bombs to break walls or create shortcuts. You can shove rivals into danger or steal treasure they've already dug up, adding a layer of direct competition. The pacing is quick, with each run lasting only a few frantic minutes, and the difficulty comes from managing risk versus reward on the fly. It feels like a constant, breathless scramble where one wrong move can cost you everything.
