Game Overview

God of War: Chains of Olympus came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2008, developed by Ready at Dawn and published by Sony. It was one of the more ambitious titles on the system, bringing the console series' scale and spectacle to a handheld, which felt pretty impressive at the time.

You control Kratos, the Spartan warrior, as he fights through mythological Greece to prevent the sun from being destroyed. You use his chained blades for close combat, pulling off combos and brutal finishers against skeletons, gorgons, and other mythical beasts. The game mixes screen by screen exploration with environmental puzzles and occasional platforming. It moves at a fast pace, with combat that stays challenging but fair. Ripping through enemies with those blades just feels powerful and satisfying, even on a small screen.
