I picked up The Godfather for PSP back in 2006, a portable take on the organized crime drama developed by EA Redwood Shores. It was one of those open world games that tried to capture the feel of the films, letting you step into the shoes of a mobster on the go. At the time, having a game like this on a handheld felt ambitious, even if it didn't always run perfectly.

You control a custom-made enforcer working for the Corleone family, starting from the bottom and carrying out orders across a divided New York. The main goal is to earn respect and seize control of the city's criminal operations by any means necessary. Key mechanics include extorting businesses through intimidation or force, engaging in cover based shootouts with rival gangs, and driving around to manage your growing territory. The pacing is deliberate, with missions that sometimes feel repetitive, and the difficulty can spike during chaotic firefights. It feels like a rough but earnest attempt to bring a gritty crime saga into your hands.
